Mechanical Technician

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician to handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment across our facilities. The successful candidate will ensure all mechanical assets operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, improving performance, and supporting overall operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including pumps, motors, compressors, piping, and HVAC equipment.

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults to ensure minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.

  • Install, assemble, and test mechanical systems and components according to manufacturer specifications.

  • Provide technical support to facility operations, ensuring equipment availability and reliability.

  • Assist in planning shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and modification projects.

  • Support emergency maintenance and quick restoration of mechanical systems.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment logs.

  • Monitor spare parts inventory and raise requests for replacements when necessary.

  • Collaborate with electrical technicians, contractors, and other facility team members to resolve issues efficiently.

  • Provide recommendations to improve system performance and participate in mentoring junior technicians when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical Diploma, Trade Test, or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a facility, plant, or industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC, pumps, motors, compressors, and piping networks.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Experience implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with diagnostic and measuring tools.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and basic welding techniques.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
